Connectivity for digital education
programmes across AfricaBEEKEE CASE STUDY
Beekee is an EdTech startup which is a spin-out of the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Its Beekee Hub was developed specifically for use in emergency settings, usually in emerging markets, where student numbers far exceed the number of available schools
and teachers. It is aimed at young adults looking to finish their education rather than
children.
Unreliable bandwidth and patchy connectivity are problems encountered by digital education - and health - programmes operational across Africa, Asia and South America. Indeed, many well-meaning digital education programs have failed because of connectivity issues.
