Being the best global connectivity service provider is one of Telecom26’s raison d’etres. We operate as a full global MVNO for terrestrial coverage, a maritime MNO - and a provider of connectivity for IoT devices. Ensuring fast, reliable and cost-effective international connectivity and roaming services is in our lifeblood.
An earlier blog looked at how The Rise of the Super MVNO is shaking up the mobile global connectivity service provider market; Estimates are that there will be around 2000 MVNOs operating in a market valued at >US$100 bn by 2025.
And we also looked at the MNO vs MVNO models and how organisations can pick and choose to find the best global connectivity service provider for their needs.
In a recent interview with LightReading, Mike Cartwright, the head of Vodafone UK's wholesale business, says subscriber numbers for MVNOs on his network are up 3.5 million following “a two year period in which Vodafone has made a conscious effort to expand this part of its business, it has been able to land major contracts with Asda, a supermarket chain, and Virgin Media, a cable operator”.
Cartwright says that MVNO traffic has been “helping Vodafone to make a return on its 5G investment and expand that network faster” and that "MVNOs are a way to target areas of the market where Vodafone brands don't resonate”.
Meanwhile Capacity magazine, the must-read for everyone in the wholesale space, recently ran a piece titled MVNOs and operators: an evolving market, another interesting read.
Apparently, BT Wholesale which “often sees about one MVNO deal per year, has signed five direct deals in the past six months and expects more this year” and “the company sees MVNOs as a continued opportunity”.
The new deals “span the enterprise and IoT segments, as well as consumer”. The rise of IoT is no surprise as “the ever-increasing number of connected things make it a much larger market than the consumer and traditional enterprise sectors, unlimited by population size”.
As an IoT provider, the team at Telecom26 agree with this. The IoT market is huge and still very fragmented - and all the different user cases can’t be covered by a few MNOs and MVNOs.
The Capacity article says that “one of the challenges for IoT-based MVNOs is to obtain connectivity, in forms such as eSIM profiles or SIM cards, from operators at rates that give them the room to operate effectively”.
This is not a problem for Telecom26…
Telecom26 - a full global MVNO for terrestrial coverage, a maritime MNO - and a provider of connectivity for IoT devices.
We’re an independent, global mobile operator with our own network core and operational assets leveraging relationships with more than 1100 network connections and 650 unique mobile operators to secure unrivalled global coverage.
However, unlike most MVNOs, we do have a number of USPs which enable us to offer a service that matches, and, indeed in most cases, surpasses the offering of the big brand MNOs:
- A razor-sharp focus on our role as a global connectivity service providerproviding international connectivity and roaming services.
- We own and manage our own core network which provides us with independence from other MNOs, vital to ensure the highest level of security and data integrity.
- We have 350+ direct inbound roaming agreements which enable subscribers to roam onto both our maritime and private networks ensuring reliable full global coverage.
- We can customise our offering, and build routing profiles for each customer according to their needs and budget. For example, for organisations that are more price sensitive we can ensure that they automatically connect to the cheapest service in the area, rarely access expensive satellite links - and make the most of wifi for data-heavy up and downloads.
For our customers, our roaming service and global SIM cards, means that, as well as seamless global connectivity which connects them to the best available network wherever they are in the world, they have just one mobile phone contract with one bill, one point of contact and one set of SLAs.
We offer a full range of connectivity options including 5G, LTE, WiFi, private networks, 2G, 3G and 4G, as well as offshore connectivity capabilities.
