The global connectivity team at Telecom26 has, like billions of others, been glued to the Paris Olympics coverage. But, of course, as they observe the tens of thousands of people from abroad who are working there – the media, sponsors, logistics, event managers, infrastructure companies etc etc, - they are thinking about the massive amounts of connectivity that is needed - and feeling bad for the companies that haven’t arranged for their companies to have Telecom26 eSIMs. For those employees from abroad using the roaming service of their domestic operators, bill shock is imminent…
In a previous blog, Using data when you are abroad – Telecom26’s global data services, we wrote about how the people working at the famed Giro D’Italia, a three-week cycling race across Italy, were mostly using their domestic operator to connect their devices with just a few picking up Italian SIMs to use while they were there. And what they all had in common were problems caused by the lack of coverage in some areas - and slow speeds.
Being tied to a single network provider – the roaming partner of their home operator – meant that they may not have been connected to the best available network in some locations – and even lacked coverage at all in some of the more remote places through which the race passed.
People working at the Olympics will doubtless be experiencing the same…
If only they’d contacted Telecom26 to find out about data services for businesses whose people are working abroad…
Telecom26’s global data services
We offer a range of packages that ensure that your people, and the devices they use, are always connected to our global data service, wherever they are in the world.
Users of our global data service can access the networks of more than 650 mobile operators in 200+ countries and territories. Our SIMs and eSIMs automatically switch between available networks to ensure the best, and most cost-effective, coverage.
Our Grab & Go service was recently launched following requests from our existing, and potential, business customers.
Grab & Go provides business travellers with time-limited, pre-paid eSIMs which are easy to download and activate, and can be used alongside the SIM cards already installed in a device, with users switching to Grab & Go when they travel abroad.
Grab & Go eSIMs can be bought in batches by businesses and then issued for a specified number of days with different data allowances available. For example, 10GB in the EU for 21 Days.
The days and data quota can easily be activated when a user arrives in a new country, region, or continent. Once activated, the agreed package is available for the specified period and expires when this ends. In other words, perfect for a 3-week race like the Giro.
Grab & Go complements our Enterprise Data Extra global connectivity service which you can read more about in this blog: Telecom26 makes life easier for business travellers who need fast and cost-effective connectivity with Enterprise Data Extra
