One of the services Telecom26 can provide is the IoT Connectivity that is enabling energy companies to innovate and reduce their carbon footprints, improve distribution, and deliver more intelligent renewable energy. Our IoT Connectivity networks provide a global platform for companies in the energy and utilities.
Becoming more frugal in our use of energy, and moving towards renewable, is more crucial than ever.
The BBC recently ran a piece titled Why are gas prices so high and what is happening to fuel bills? In it, they discuss how “there's been a worldwide squeeze on gas and energy supplies over the past year. As a result, wholesale gas prices have risen to unprecedented levels. At the end of December, they hit a new record of 450p per therm, which experts think could take average annual gas bills to about £2,000 next year.
Reasons for the increase include:
- a cold winter in Europe in 2020/21, which put pressure on supplies and, as a result, meant stored gas supplies dropped
- a relatively windless summer meant it was difficult to replenish those supplies
- increased demand from Asia - especially China - for liquefied natural gas
There are a number of technical and geopolitical issues at play as well, which mean many countries across Europe are grappling with the same problems”.
These figures show why why organsiations and individuals across the world are looking at ways to reduce their consumption of both oil and gas.
For the utility and energy companies that provide us with gas and electricity, the search for efficiencies continues as does the investment in renewable energy, both to fill the energy gaps - and to move us to a greener more sustainable way of life.
Telecom26, IoT Connectivity, Energy and Utilities
In our new briefing document IoT Connectivity for Energy and Utilities which can be downloaded from here, we discuss how Telecom26 provides a global platform for companies in the energy and utilities industries to implement next generation, smart solutions.
Our IoT network enables the innovation these companies need to reduce carbon footprint, improve distribution, and deliver more intelligent renewable energy.
With Telecom26, energy and utility companies can track assets, gather data in real-time and reduce operational costs, safe in the knowledge that their data is travelling on a secure, global IoT network.
