As a global maritime cellular operator. Telecom26 offers a substantial range of global maritime connectivity solutions for the digital ship, IoT connectivity, crew welfare, passengers and much more.
This week our team of maritime connectivity experts will be at the Posidonia international shipping exhibition in Athens, Greece from 6-10 June.
If you’re going to Posidonia too then please come and visit us on stand 1.522 or book a meeting to discuss all your maritime connectivity needs.
We offer bespoke maritime connectivity and marine communications services that integrate inbound and outbound roaming, with full support of data services. Our maritime services include:
- A full Cellular At Sea service or vessels of all sizes. This is a private cellular network on a ship providing maritime connectivity. We provide 4G and 5G local radio coverage to ensure that maritime connectivity is available as well as eSIMs to enable devices to connect. The coverage provided in the private network at sea means any approved device can communicate with others locally. And, because they are connected to our core via satellite, they can access any other global service – for outbound and inbound voice and data communication. For more information please visit our Cellular at Sea page.
- A Nearshore Maritime Connectivity Service – our data service which provides maritime connectivity by enabling nearshore access to land-based cellular networks for fast, high-bandwidth data use.
Most ships and vessels spend the majority of their time in port or in coastal waters – within range of land-based cellular networks which can reach up to 30km out to sea
So, instead of relying on costly satellite for data or connectivity, you can easily benefit from the maritime connectivity options they provide.
For more information please visit our nearshore maritime connectivity page.
- A Maritime Connectivity IoT Service including private networks on-board vessels, oil rigs and platforms – and supply chain tracking.
A private network at sea is a private cellular network on a ship. They are essentially closed networks that are deployed in a specific location.
At Telecom26 we provide private networks at sea using our “Cellular at Sea service”. In this case, we provide a complete, private full-service mobile network on-board for 4G, 3G and, soon 5G connectivity. This gives two additional benefits. First, voice and SMS can be enabled alongside data services. Second, complete control over the network is provided, allowing owners to admit users. As a result, a complete mobile service can be offered to support crew welfare, passenger communications, as well as for IoT devices.
So, in our terms, the private network at sea is self-contained, using dedicated radio access infrastructure for 3G, 4G and future 5G, and powered by our mobile core.
The limit to coverage is defined by the footprint of the vessel.
The maritime connectivity coverage provided in the private network at sea means any approved device can communicate with others locally. And, because they can also be connected to our core via satellite connectivity on board from a preferred partner, they can access any other global service – for outbound and inbound voice and data communications.
And, there is also the additional option to switch to near-shore networks when they are in range – saving bandwidth and reducing satellite costs.

Maritime Connectivity and our Global eSIM cards
At the heart of our maritime connectivity service are our Global IoT eSIM cards. These provide data to all onboard devices via cellular data links. By onboard devices we mean Wi-Fi routers, container sensors, IoT networks and any system process that needs to connect to the internet, to a remote server or monitor.
Our Global IoT eSIMs can access most terrestrial and maritime networks. Not all networks are equally available – some offer better coverage in some locations than others. And, every country has its own range of terrestrial network operators. This means that, as a vessel moves along the coast, different networks may be available
Recent Enhancements to Our Maritime Connectivity Services
Only last week we announced a new partnership with Tampnet which will enable us to offer our maritime connectivity customers access to Tampnet’s extensive off-shore networks which provide coverage in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico.
We are also about to launch Talk, Text & Travel, a full mobile service which provides truly global coverage, with the convenience of eSIM. It offers voice, data and SMS services, wherever you roam with low latency for the best performance. Flexible and competitive pricing packages are available including PAYG. For more information please visit us at Posidonia on stand 1.522 or book a meeting.
5G – we will continue to add 5G networks to our Global Roaming Service which currently provides seamless coverage across 1100 cellular networks from over 625 mobile operators in more than 220 countries. For a detailed view of our network capabilities please visit us at Posidonia on stand 1.522 or book a meeting.
