This week Telecom26 is celebrating its 10th birthday - and boy has time sped by. During that time, we have built and cemented our position as one of the most innovative, reliable and cost-effective providers of maritime connectivity, IoT services and private networks at sea. We are a global full mobile non-terrestrial operator and a member of both the GSMA, and full member of ITU.
The traditional 10th wedding anniversary gift is tin, symbolising how a successful marriage needs to be flexible and stable, and able to bend without breaking. Tin symbolises preservation and longevity. We think that’s a pretty good reflection of Telecom26. We are indeed stable, flexible, creative and, above all, committed to our customers and partners.
So, what to give as a present to our team to mark this special week? Brides.com suggests diamonds but although we love and appreciate our team that might be a bit much! And they all already have the must-have accessory for global travellers which is our IoT SIM cards. Maybe a reminder of how much we value, respect and appreciate everyone who works at Telecom26 will be enough…
Telecom26 - maritime connectivity, IoT connectivity, global roaming service, Private Networks at sea
Since Telecom26 was established in 2012, we’ve created an innovative, flexible network, fully virtualised and distributed with a global footprint. We’re constantly extending our boundaries, through our own developments and best-in-class partnerships. We’ve enjoyed years of growth, enriching our portfolio each year.
Our customer base is both global - and impressive including
- Our long-term healthcare customer, SystemOne, whose e-health programme tests for TB, HIV and COVID using our global connectivity network to transmit and receive results and healthcare plans.
- GlobalmatiX, the first customer for our Telematics eSIM Service. Telecom26 was chosen following a competitive tender process involving the world’s largest MNOs.
- Digital education - we provide connectivity for an adult education programme in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya which is run by the UNHCR, and home to around 200,000 people.
- We are the Global Mobile Connectivity Provider for a large Asian Bank whose employees travel regularly between the bank’s offices spread across 90 countries.
- More than 200 vessels are now using our Near To Shore service - and benefiting from significant cost savings.
You can see a timeline of our progress here which include these recent highlights…
In 2021 we launched:
- A full global mobile network at sea for passenger, crew and operational maritime connectivity for mobile and IoT services
- A channel program to further extend reach into new vertical markets
- A semi-private CBRS network across rural farm in Illinois to provide full mobile services and roaming capabilities across all farm facilities
In 2020 we established:
- A development environment for product innovation centered around cellular connectivity
- Led the market in international COVID-19 diagnostic equipment enablement by supplying global connectivity solutions to pharmaceutical companies and NGOs worldwide
- Provided the largest coverage area across Africa under a single agreement, more than any other operator or service provider
- Utilized terrestrial multi-network connectivity while at sea
The Telecom26 Global Connectivity Service Provider Differences - Bigger and Better in 2022
We have a number of USPs which enable us to offer a service that matches, and indeed in most cases, surpasses the offering of the big brand MNOs including:
- Own and manage our own core network which provides independence from other MNOs, vital to ensure the highest level of security and data integrity.
- Provide our customers with access to 1100 cellular networks from over 650 mobile operators in more than 200+ countries and territories.
- Have 350+ direct inbound roaming agreements which enable subscribers to roam onto both maritime and private networks ensuring reliable full global coverage.
- Can customise our offering and build routing profiles for each customer according to their needs and budget. For example, for organisations that are more price sensitive Telecom26 can ensure that they automatically connect to the cheapest service in the area, rarely access expensive satellite links - and make the most of wifi for data-heavy up and downloads.
Our message is clear. Despite these challenging times around the world, we look forward to the future and keep loyal to our main vision, unlocking the global potential of connectivity for organizations everywhere to drive ground-breaking IoT solutions.
In this day and age, connectivity should be ubiquitous and no-one should be paying exorbitant roaming charges.
